Timothy Lamar Love, Jr. a.k.a. Royal’T TopMC, started out writing and rapping at the tender age of six. Although his rhymes didn’t make much sense at the time, he persisted and his writing and vocal delivery evolved into a style of music influenced by old school Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock and Alternative, House, Soul and Blues.
The diverse nineteen year old wrote, arranged, and produced his first album, “My Turn,” an eclectic fusion of all the genres of music that inspired him. This was followed by his sophomore effort, “The Throwback Novel,” an oral novella told through songs featuring a diverse style of music spanning across the last five decades. In his latter album, Royal’T TopMC addressed many issues plaguing the youth of today including abuse, illiteracy, and self esteem. He also displays his singing ability on a few of his tracks. His third album called “The Raw Gospel Musik” is a collaborative of most dope emcees in Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL and New York, NY—but don't let the name fool you—it gets grimy and dark and lyrical all in one. Royal'T TopMC produced all the tracks on this project but two that were produced by Fathom 9 and Max Ptah. This album can be downloaded for free at http://royalttopmc.bandcamp.com/album/raw-gospel-muzik.
Royal’T TopMC’s style of rapping and brand of music excels because it skillfully combines the commercial appeal of today’s hottest music along with the consciousness that is a throwback to lyricist such as Slick Rick, the Geto Boys, the Fresh Prince, Run DMC and many others.
As a story-teller first, Royal’T TopMC addresses a variety of subjects that his generation faces while simultaneously providing music that teenagers and adults can dance to.
Royal'T TopMC’s fourth album entitled “4 All Seasons,” will be released Thursday August 20, 2011. This album was created with the intent to give everyone, no matter the age, something that they can relate to.
